Volunteering

Volunteers at Beachmere State School are made up of parents, carers, grandparents and a variety of community members. Volunteers have a huge impact on teachers, students and the whole school community. With volunteer support we are able to implement literacy and numeracy programs that support all students.

If you’re wondering whether to start volunteering this year here are a few things to consider.

  1. A little bit of time goes a long way. You may have a little bit of time or a lot. Either way your support helps. Some volunteers have a regular amount of time, maybe one or two hours a week, while others have more sporadic time available. Either way entering a classroom, being an extra set of hands, a smiling face or someone students can relate to really does help.
  2. Building relationships. Working in classrooms not only allows you the opportunity to build deeper relationships with teachers and students, it also helps you get to know other parents and people in the community.
  3. It is rewarding. Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Ask a volunteer! Some days will leave you with a sense of accomplishment and other days may be challenging but rest assured being a volunteer will make you feel good and valued.
  4. Everyone has something to offer. You may work with groups of students and help them in reading groups, you may assist the teacher in getting homework and readers sent home, you may be artistic and work with others to create murals. No matter who you are there is always some way that you can help in a school.
If you have any questions about volunteering please talk to our office staff members.

We look forward to building a relationship with you this year and see all that you have to offer.
