Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent Teacher Interviews have been scheduled for weeks 7 and 8 of this term. A parent letter and booking timetable has been sent home late last week or early this week. This is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s individual progress so far this year.
Prep Student Enrolment Applications
Our school is about to commence our Prep Enrolment process for the 2019 School Year. Enrolment packs can be collected from our school office for any interested parents. We will host a Parent Information Session on Wednesday 17th October at 5:30pm. Our Prep Transition Program will run every Wednesdas morning in Term 4 from week 3 to week 7. Should you require further information please contact our friendly office staff on 5433 9222.
DETE facilities has recently engaged an arborist to assess the trees in our school grounds. From this process, a large number of trees have been identified for either removal or pruning due to ongoing safety concerns. This was discussed at our P&C meeting on Tuesday. When the report is available, a copy will be provided to our P&C. If you have any concerns or questions regarding this, please don’t hesitate to contact the office, or discuss your concerns with our P&C.
Well Represented at Inter-School Sport Gala Day
Our first Term 3 Inter-School Sport Gala Day was held on Friday 15th August. Our students participated in a range of sports including touch football, netball and rugby union. I was very proud to hear that students involved in all three sports displayed outstanding behaviour on the day and represented our school with pride. I even received an email from a parent of another school who took the time to write to me and tell me about the outstanding behaviour of our netball team. Great job Beachmere!
High Expectations for Student Behaviour:
At Beachmere State School we have very high expectations for student behaviour. Every student who attends our school has the right to learn in a safe and supportive learning environment. We consistently reinforce our school rules with students and encourage our parents to support this at home. Our School rules are:
Care for Learning
Care for School
Care for Self
Care for Others
Teachers encourage students to make positive behavioural choices and have classroom based reward systems for those students who make good choices. Our school also has whole school strategies to reward positive behaviour choices. One of these methods is our “Pelican Awards.” Students are presented with a Pelican Award when they demonstrate positive behaviour and adhere to our four school rules. We have recently awarded our first ‘Blue’ Positive Behaviour Awards for students who received 25 Pelicans. Many of these students are well on their way to 50 Pelicans. Well done students!
Uniform Expectations - Jumpers:
Thank you to our parents and students for working hard to follow the Beachmere State School Uniform Policy. We have been doing a great job with our shorts, polo shirts and hats. Your support to ensure our students are also wearing a navy blue jumper would be greatly appreciated.
Parent Opinion Surveys
The School Opinion Survey is undertaken each year by the department’s State Schools Division to obtain the opinions of parents/caregivers, students and school staff about important aspects of schooling. The survey is designed to help schools identify what they do well and what they can improve on. A random selection of parents across the school would have received an invitation to complete the survey. I would like to encourage you to complete this survey so that your opinion can help influence the schools future priorities and direction. The survey closes this Friday 24 August. If you need support to complete the online survey, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.

Attendance is the Key to Learning
Research has proven that regular attendance at school is one of the most important factors to ensure student improvement in reading, writing and maths. It is so very important that your child attends school every day. We have set an attendance target of 93% for all students this term. I have included below a student attendance overview per class from last week for your reference.
It is great to see that Prep M, and 5G achieved above our target in week 5. Please give your child the best possible start in life by ensuring he/she attends school regularly.
Term 3 Calendar is Up to Date:
The Beachmere State School Website has been updated for term 3 events. The website enables our school to link with iPhone and Android Apps such as the Queensland Government’s “QSchools” App. The QSchools App is a convenient way to receive up-to-the-minute information from and about schools. The App is designed to integrate with our school website, and allows users to see when news, events and newsletters are posted to their selected school website. The school community can also receive emergency announcements such as natural disasters and school closures through the App. Further information about the QSchools App can be found at: http://deta.qld.gov.au/about/app/qschools-app.html
Our school website address is: www.beachmeress.eq.edu.au.
